Remote Monitoring

By using modern wearable technology during all stages ZS Wellness will monitor the crew’s lifestyle, improvement and adherence.

We have teamed up with Oracle and Garmin to create a unique platform specific for the maritime industry. We collect a whole ream of data which we compare against national recommendations, maritime legislation, a companies specific requirements and our proffesional standards.

Wearable Smart Watch

At the start of Phase One whilst we collect all relevant data, all crew members will be issued with a Garmin Vivosmart 3.

The Vivosmart 3 is capable of recording, but not limited to:

  • Step counter
  • Move bar (displays on device after a period of inactivity; walk for a couple of minutes to reset it)
  • Sleep monitoring (monitors total sleep and periods of movement or restful sleep)
  • Calories burned

  • Floors climbed

  • Distance traveled

  • Intensity minutes

  • Fitness Age

  • HR zones

  • HR calories

  • HR alerts

If you or your crew members have already been using a "Fitbit"  we are able to pull all historical data from the Fitbit cloud into your new Garmin Connect acount.

Garmin Index™ Smart Scale

ZS Wellness would highly recommend installing a Smart Scale into each cabin as this will enable to our team and your crew to continually monitor:

  • Body Mass Index
  • Body Fat
  • Weight
  • Muscle mass and more

With little change we ask crew members to wear, wearable technology.  ZS Wellness will visit both crew and office to educate everyone about the risks of their current lifestyle has on life, career and company, and the benefits of leading healthier and more active lifestyle.

Monthly Reporting

Given the availability we, ZS Wellness, would like to visit you onboard your vessel, where this is not practical whilst transiting back to work we would like to invite you into one of our offices to start to explain the risks your current lifestyle could be putting on your life, future health and your career.

During phase one we will visit your office team, typically in HR and Operations to explain the overview of how your crew's current lifestyle could be putting your vessel, company at risks.

If we have any concerns regarding your crew's wellbeing we would reccommend immediate courses of action.

The duration of phase one will vary from from vessel to vessel.  Typically the minimum duration is 3 months. We require a sufficient period of time to establish patterns between time between shore and sea.

By developing unique and fit for purpose fitness programmes and videos we will teach the crew members how to move better, become more active and start the prevention process.

For each vessel / crew member we will have training programme developed to thier needs.  All crew members will start at the same point to ensure thorough understanding of the exercises being carried out.

Video Training

All programmes will have specific training videos attached that each crew member will be able to follow at home or at sea in the comfort and convenience of their own cabin or used in the onboard gym.

Each programme will be refreshed every three months the standard periodisation. 4 full 3-month programmes and videos will be included with each phase two package.

"You can't out train a bad diet"

By developing unique and fit for purpose fitness programmes and videos we will teach the crew members how to move better, become more active and start the prevention process.

Having sailed aboard ocean going vessels and still having many friends and colleagues at sea CEO and Founder Andrew Cowderoy has first hand experiance of the lack of healthy and nutritions food readily available on ocean going vessels.

Each vessel and company will be different and hence a bespoke process will be tailored on a case by case basis.

ZS Wellness has team of nutritionists and partners who specialise in dietary requirements.  We will provide nutritional consultation for each vessel.  This will typically start with a review of what the company is ordering on behalf of the vessel, a review of the meals the cooks are preparing and where applicable the portion sizing.

There are a number of outcomes that include but are not limited to:

  • Advising on alternative food supplies
  • Creating healthy meal plans with food that is already being ordered.
  • Specialist training for the cooks.
  • A full rework of the vessels food supplies.
